I may delve into this in more detail later in the week but suffice to say that this is a completely hopeless list.Bridget Jones at number 16 smacks of a desperate attempt to put some female characters in the top 20. Who on earth thinks Bridget Jones is one of cinema's finest characters? Total Film do apparently. Note that this isn't top 100 characters of 2000s, or even top 100 British screen characters. This is the top 100 characters of all time. Since cinema began. Ever. And she's 16th.
Jack Sparrow is number 1. Please. I don't think your greatest film character of all time can be in a film that can only be described as decent. Just can't happen. I think it's a rule or something. Plus he actually became quite annoying halfway through the second film.

Thanks for posting the link. Have just had a look and you're absolutely right, it's a load of old cobblers. One cliche to the next.
Also, when does a character become a 'movie' character rather than a 'literary' character etc. (as in the case of Hannibal, Michael Corleone etc.)? Or is that too deep for a thursday night and my list probably has literary and other characters too.
The total film list is exactly the sort of list I'd expect a mainstream film mag to come up with. Disappointingly predictable.
