Oscar Predix
8/10 which was probably not bad. Bonus points to me for getting Tilda Swinton and for predicting a Best Actress upset. Minus marks for guessing the wrong upsetter. I went for Ellen Page. It was of course Marion Cotillard. The only other one I missed was Best Cinematography which was a travesty.

Can you explain to me what cinematography actually means?
It's basically how a film looks. It's mainly to do with use of light (just as photography is) but also includes use of different lenses on the camera as well as other tricks like use of coloured filters and different types of film. At least that how as I understand it.
We'll add Best Cinematography to our Movie Years so you get the idea.
I hope The Horse Whisperer makes it into that list

MyFilmVault is not only split down the middle regarding film opinion but just as dramatically regarding oscar opinion.
Adam loves them whereas I loathe them for consistently overlooking brilliant films, and brilliant aspects of films, year upon year for political or economic or other non-film related motives. There are some worthy winners, but, in my view, they are few and far between.
Never better summed up than Deakins not winning for The Assassination of Jesse James. Ludicrous. Who are these cretins who vote? Explain yourselves!
Sorry for my lack of posting about them, have very much enjoyed Adam's excellent efforts but sadly can't muster up the desire to pen one of my own, they just leave me flat...
I think very few critics are complaining this year for a change. In fact it's Joe Public in the US that didn't like this year's winners since they hadn't heard of any of them. Loads of foreign winners including all 4 acting recipients. Only the 2nd time ever that that's happened.
Although I was gutted about Deakins Robert Elswit, who won for cinematography, did great work. I suspect Deakins two films polled more votes than anyone else meaning he split the vote between himself. I think if only 'Jesse James' had been nominated he'd have won.
